A snake-inspired game in space
Tail Glider is a free action title for mobile from indie developer FrogletGames. It is a futuristic space-themed interpretation of the classic snake game. In it, players control a spaceship and are tasked with collecting as many crystals as they can before they run out of fuel.
What makes Tail Glider stand out from other snake-inspired games like Worms Zone.io - Voracious Snake or slither.io is the presence of other enemies. Players will have to contend with two other spaceships on the map and avoid the blocks they drop that will destroy their shop upon collision.
Space snake
The Snake game came out decades ago, yet it still serves as an inspiration for many to this day. It had a simple premise that was easy to understand and intuitive controls that allowed beginners to jump right in and enjoy. Plenty of others have tried to tweak the formula, injecting their own twist, but Tail Glider might have one of the most unique interpretations yet.
In a nutshell, Tail Glider is Snake in space. Control a spaceship and collect as many crystals as possible before you run out of fuel. Controls employ what the developer describes as fully symmetric, allowing both your thumbs to maneuver freely. The "cosmic snow" will guide you toward crystals spread across the map. You're not alone, though, as you have two other ships trying to do the same thing.
As all three of you glide through space, you leave a trail of blocks behind you akin to a snake's tail. That is where things get tricky as they make maneuvering difficult, and collision will result in destruction. Just be aware that it's still in active development, so it's far from being finished, with more changes coming and bugs yet to be ironed out.
A spectacle of color and chaos
Tail Glider might seem like just another snake-inspired title. However, it really is much more than it seems. The inspiration is apparent but it was cleverly executed and so distinctly that it can stand as its own game. From the space theme to the beautiful art style, and engaging gameplay, it is well worth experiencing. It's already quite polished in its current state. Very impressive.
